Move-In and Move-Out Cleaning in Calgary: When to Book Each Step

The best cleaning appointment is one the rest of your move can work around. Movers need clear access, cleaners need rooms ready for the agreed tasks, and freshly cleaned carpet needs time to dry before it is covered with furniture or boxes.

When booking move-in or move-out cleaning in Calgary, share the handover and moving arrangements early. The sequence below helps you plan the work without assuming that every task can happen in the same room at once.

Move-out cleaning: work back from handover

Start with the time you must return keys or hand over the property. Then identify when your belongings, moving boxes and rubbish will be removed. The main cleaning visit is generally easier to coordinate after the move-out work is finished, while there is still time to review the agreed areas.

Tell us if furniture, stored items or contractors will remain. An appointment can then be assessed around the actual access, rather than planned as though the property will be empty.

Use our move-out cleaning checklist for the room and appliance details. This article focuses on fitting that cleaning scope into your moving schedule.

Move-in cleaning: plan before unpacking

Where the possession arrangements allow it, book cleaning before cupboards fill with dishes and rooms fill with furniture. Empty storage areas are easier to access, and you avoid immediately moving new belongings out of the way again.

Confirm when you can actually enter the property and arrange keys or entry instructions. A proposed possession time is not the same as confirmed cleaning access. Let us know if repairs, painting or other work will continue after you receive the keys so the cleaning can be coordinated sensibly.

A practical order for a combined appointment

The exact schedule depends on the property and the services you book, but these stages are useful when discussing the plan:

  1. Complete moving and other work that blocks the cleaning areas. Remove belongings from the agreed spaces and explain any remaining access restrictions.
  2. Prepare appliance and cabinet interiors. Empty the areas included in the quote before the cleaners arrive.
  3. Carry out the agreed house cleaning. Kitchen, bathroom and other room tasks should match the confirmed scope.
  4. Coordinate carpet cleaning, if booked. Plan the teams’ access so general cleaning and repeated foot traffic do not interfere with freshly cleaned carpet.
  5. Allow for drying and a final review. Keep time between the cleaning work and placing furniture or boxes on the treated floor.

This is a planning sequence, not a fixed same-day timetable. We confirm availability and the arrangement for your particular booking.

Keep bathrooms and essential access practical

Tell us which bathrooms are included and whether movers or contractors will still need to use them. The final cleaning stage is easier to coordinate when other work is finishing, so a cleaned room does not immediately become a busy work area again.

Keep water and power available for the agreed service, and confirm parking and building-entry arrangements. For a condo, check relevant loading and elevator rules with the building before choosing the appointment.

Include carpet cleaning in the plan from the beginning

Routine floor cleaning and carpet deep steam cleaning are different tasks. If you need both, share the total property square footage, including the basement, the number of carpeted areas and the number of stair sets. The services can then be quoted and coordinated together.

Our carpet-cleaning process has five steps: dry vacuuming, pre-treatment, scrubbing and agitation, deep steam cleaning, and extraction. We will do our best to improve stains, but complete removal cannot be guaranteed; ink, dye and very old stains may not be removable.

Drying depends on the carpet and indoor conditions. Use our carpet drying guide when arranging furniture delivery and normal use of the rooms.

What if the property will still be occupied?

Tell us. Describe the rooms that will be ready and the belongings that will remain. If your main goal is a detailed clean of a lived-in home, deep house cleaning may be the more useful service to discuss.

Cleaning also does not repair worn flooring, damaged finishes or permanent marks. Identify those concerns beforehand so the final review can focus on the work agreed in the quote.

Arrange your quote and appointment
