Commercial carpet cleaning needs more planning than choosing a date. Staff movement, customer access, furniture and drying can all affect the work. A practical plan identifies the areas to clean, the hours available and how the premises will operate while those areas are out of use.
Map the Areas and Priorities
List entrances, corridors, work areas and seating spaces that need attention. Note heavy traffic, spills and spots that have already been treated. Separate general soil from worn fibres, damaged backing or permanent discolouration so expectations are clear before work begins.
Tell AD Spotless about the carpet material where known, the approximate areas and any building rules. Photographs can help explain the request, but unusual materials or contamination may need a closer assessment before a final scope is agreed.
Confirm Access and Furniture Arrangements
Discuss parking, loading, entry doors, stairs and the route to the work areas. Identify desks, display units, cables and equipment that restrict access. For liability reasons, we only move light chairs or tables when necessary and clean the accessible carpet areas. Arrange any other furniture or equipment movement before the appointment.
Keep emergency routes clear. Coordinate the appointment with a responsible contact who can provide access and answer questions about the premises. If the clean must happen outside normal operating hours, confirm that timing and any building requirements in advance.
Plan for Cleaning and Drying
Our carpet process follows five steps: dry vacuuming, pre-treatment, scrubbing/agitation, deep steam cleaning, and extraction. Work duration depends on the area, layout, soil, access and treatment requirements, so a fixed finish time should not be assumed without discussing the job.
Carpets often need approximately 8–12 hours to dry, but conditions can make this faster or slower. Consider airflow, indoor temperature and humidity. Keep people away from damp work areas as advised, especially where a carpeted area meets a hard floor. Confirm when furniture and normal foot traffic can return.
Set Realistic Stain and Odour Expectations
Cleaning may improve soil and some stains or odours. It cannot restore worn fibres or reverse dye loss, and complete stain removal is not guaranteed. If contamination has reached backing or underlay, deeper material may retain the source.
Build a Maintenance Routine Around Use
Between professional visits, use a suitable vacuuming routine, manage entrance mats and respond promptly to spills according to the carpet manufacturer’s guidance. The right professional-cleaning interval depends on traffic, visible soil and the material; there is no single schedule suitable for every Calgary business.
Keep a record of problem areas and previous treatments. Reviewing those observations before the next visit helps focus the agreed scope without treating every remaining mark as removable soil.
